Tutoring services for children and siblings

The service is intended for children and siblings of returned hostages aged 5–18 - who need social assistance, assistance in organizing daily tasks, etc.
Scope of assistance: up to 10 hours per week for a period of up to two years.

Please note, the National Insurance Institute funds the service but bears no professional responsibility for the selection of the tutor, the content of the program, or its results.

Remedial teaching for children and siblings

The assistance is intended for children and siblings of returned hostages who are in grades 1 to 12 - who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities and need remedial teaching.
The number of hours will be determined by the diagnostician, up to a maximum of 18 hours per month.

To receive this assistance, the following must be submitted:

  • Diagnostic recommendations for remedial teaching.
  • Number of hours recommended by the diagnostician.
  • Professional certificates from the service provider.
  • Original invoice for payment.

Reimbursement amount:

Up to NIS 162 for treatment up to 18 hours per month.


Learning disability diagnosis

Funding for learning disability diagnosis is provided to family members who are not yet 21 years old.
The diagnosis will be performed by a psychologist who is certified to do so at the expert level or higher.
Funding is provided for up to 4 diagnoses over the years.

To receive this assistance, you must submit:

  • A document from an educational professional or other entity recommending the diagnosis
  • An original receipt detailing the type of diagnosis (psychodidactic / didactic / attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).

Funding amount:

  • For psychodidactic diagnosis - reimbursement of up to NIS 2,869
  • For didactic diagnosis - reimbursement of up to NIS 1,666
  • For attention deficit hyperactivity disorder diagnosis - reimbursement of up to NIS 1,573


Important to know! HMOs participate in subsidizing the costs of diagnostics up to 50%-80%, for those who have supplementary insurance, so that you can contact your HMO to fund the difference (if any).


Occupational diagnosis

Parents, spouses, children, siblings of returned hostages - are eligible for assistance in financing occupational diagnosis.

  • The referral for diagnosis and payment will be made by the National Insurance Institute directly to the provider, in accordance with the procedures.
  • The diagnosis will be accompanied by a professional dialogue with the eligible person about the diagnosis process, its results and making decisions related to choosing his professional and occupational career.
  • Anyone who has already undergone an occupational diagnosis on his own initiative, before contacting us for assistance - is eligible for reimbursement based on the transmission of the diagnosis report and original receipt.

Amount of reimbursement:

  • Direct payment to the provider: NIS 1,813 to NIS 2,377
  • Payment to the eligible person:
    For a standard occupational diagnosis - up to NIS 1,787
    For an extended occupational diagnosis (instead of a psychodidactic diagnosis) - reimbursement of up to NIS 2,500

Funding tuition fees for a bachelor's degree or vocational training

Family members up to 60 years old - are eligible for funding of tuition fees for a bachelor's degree or vocational training.
Family members aged 60-65 - are eligible for funding of tuition fees only for a course or for the purpose of promotion at work or professional retraining.

Amount of reimbursement:

Up to NIS 11,653 per year (as of 2015) and up to 3 years of studies.
